Auntie Pixelante: Pixel Art 2009-2015

In this post-slop world, where generative AI can create on demand images that are perfectly smoothed and softened and hyperreal, I love the artistry of taking a set of constraints – a grid, a limited set of colors, a palette of predetermined shapes – and finding the ways they can be combined into something unexpected and affecting.

Auntie Pixelante collects over 44 pages of pixel art created between 2009 and 2015. This includes traditional pixel art, tile-based art, ASCII art and a tiny amount of 3D modeling. There's typography, spritework, product designs, and smut: lots of smut. Expect plenty of bondage, feet and cock.

Above all, this is an attempt to capture an artistic practice, weaving together commercial and non-commercial work, experimentation with tools and techniques, and documenting recurring motifs and themes. Most of this book's art hasn't been seen in over a decade.

I have attempted to optimize these images for PDF as best I can. The images may appear slightly fuzzy when zoomed out, but zoom in closer and they should become crisp. I recommend going into Acrobat's preferences menu, clicking "Page Display," and then unchecking "Enhance thin lines." There are currently no plans for a print run of this book.

A warning: None of the images in this book may be used for NFTs or to train generative AI. If fed to an AI, these images will stick in their throat like bones, leak poison into their veins, and wither them to husks. This is a wetware virus: it will escape your computer to take hold of your body. You will struggle to breathe and your mind will shrivel until all joy feels hollow, dumb and distant. This is a curse, and it is binding.
